Nissan has officially revealed its upcoming mid-size SUV, the Nissan Tekton, ahead of its global debut. The new C-segment SUV is set to launch in India by Q2 2026 and will sit above the Magnite in the company’s lineup.
After a long pause following the Magnite’s release, Nissan appears ready to make a proper comeback in India. While the X-Trail’s limited CBU run didn’t quite take off, the Tekton looks like a more serious effort from the Japanese automaker.

Design inspired by the Patrol SUV
For now, Nissan has only shared images of the Tekton’s exterior design. The SUV’s styling draws heavy inspiration from the flagship Nissan Patrol. It features a flat bonnet, a bold front bumper, and a full-width LED light bar that connects the headlamps. The ‘TEKTON’ badge sits prominently on the bonnet, similar to the lettering style used by Land Rover SUVs.
From the side, the Tekton has flared wheel arches, a tall stance, and pillar-mounted rear door handles, giving it a modern, muscular look. The rear design follows a cohesive, global aesthetic, with taillights that also echo the Patrol’s design.

Expected powertrains and rivals
Nissan hasn’t revealed specifications yet, but the Tekton is expected to come with multiple engine options, including naturally aspirated petrol, turbo-petrol, and possibly a hybrid variant.
When it arrives, the Tekton will take on strong rivals in the mid-size SUV segment such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
While the interior hasn’t been shown yet, reports suggest Nissan will go for a clean and minimal design inside, in line with modern SUV trends.
The Nissan Tekton marks a major step in the brand’s effort to strengthen its presence in India, and if priced right, it could be one of the most interesting SUV launches of 2026.
