Nothing is gearing up to roll out its next big software update — Nothing OS 4.0, built on Android 16. The company has teased the update on social media, hinting at refreshed icons, new widgets, and UI changes. The stable rollout is expected to begin later this month.
A few weeks ago, Nothing had started a Closed Beta of the update on the Nothing Phone 3, following the device’s launch. Now, the company has confirmed that the stable version of Nothing OS 4.0 is almost ready.
Nothing OS 4.0: Features and design changes
The teaser shared by Nothing shows off a fresh UI design with circular icons. For instance, the torch icon has been redesigned with a red torchlight, while tools like the Bluetooth switch, dark mode toggle, and brightness slider also appear in circular designs.
Apart from these, the teaser hints at new circular icons such as one featuring an umbrella and another with a wheel-like design. Widgets on the home screen are also expected to get a visual refresh.
Nothing OS 4.0: Release timeline and eligible devices
Nothing CEO Carl Pei had earlier confirmed that Nothing OS 4.0 would begin rolling out in Autumn 2025. With this latest teaser, it looks like the stable release could arrive as early as this month.
However, not all Nothing smartphones will get the update. The Nothing Phone 1 has officially reached the end of its software support and won’t receive Nothing OS 4.0. Eligible devices include the Nothing Phone 2, Phone 2a series, Phone 3a series, Phone 3, and CMF-branded smartphones.
